Everyone’s journey to Motherhood is different – some are straight lines, while others look more like a wild roller coaster. Although having a miscarriage is very much common, it’s a reality that none of us want to face or go at alone. After suffering two miscarriages last year, I found strength in sharing my story and leaning on others who have gone through it as well. The amount of stories and people who could relate was shocking, but also slightly comforting — especially hearing so many hopeful stories. I was truly uplifted at my lowest from followers who messaged me and I could never thank those enough!
Since then, I’ve been trying to come up with a piece of jewelry that I could launch that represents a miscarriage – and similar to my breastfeeding journey, when trying to find a piece of jewelry available out there, whether it was a miscarriage necklace or breastfeeding ring, most of what I could find did not suit my style. I started to think what I would want and that is how the Shining Star charms were created. While I was going through tough times, I would often look into the sky and wish upon a star…”please let me have just one more healthy baby.” Stars became significant, along with looking into the sky — I vividly remember finally getting a positive pregnancy test and looking up into the clouds and seeing a heart within the clouds. I get goosebumps just thinking of that.
Each charm is 14k yellow gold with diamonds, and the center is a birthstone which is intended to be the birthstone of the miscarried baby. I love the fact that the birthstones are all cabochon cuts (besides the diamond one, April) which gives it a unique look and not your average birthstone charm. June has two options, pearl or moonstone…and December has two options, tanzanite or turquoise. I have one of each within this Friday’s jewel drop in stock and on hand, otherwise I can take preorders on these and it will be 6 weeks on anything preordered. What does this mean? Aside from what I have on hand, anything preordered probably won’t get fulfilled in time for the holidays, so if you want one you gotta be fast to get the birthstone you want!
Sidenote – these are intended to represent a miscarriage, however feel free to let them signify anything in your life that you choose! Other ideas include pets or people, and you can choose whichever birthstone goes along with it. Or even if you just like the design and a specific gemstone, totally doesn’t matter!!
Another note – if you choose to purchase a Shining Star charm to signify a miscarriage, you will receive an Unakite Carved Angel. I bought these in bulk at the Tucson Gem Show after seeing that Unakite is a gem that promotes fertility. I thought it being carved into an angel was extra fitting…and little did I know at the time that my double rainbow baby was just beginning. So this little carved talisman is extra powerful!
