Walmart hires fashion designer, Project Runway judge Brandon Maxwell

Walmart has hired Brandon Maxwell as creative director of its elevated fashion brands.


Walmart wants to make a name for itself in fashion. It has tapped Brandon Maxwell, a designer who dresses celebrities from Lady Gaga to Michelle Obama, to raise its reputation.

Maxwell will oversee the discounter’s elevated brands, Scoop and Free Assembly, as creative director. The 36-year-old designer lives in New York City. He has been a judge on Bravo’s “Project Runway” and designs a luxury label sold by retailers like Neiman Marcus with items that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars apiece.

By working with Walmart, however, Maxwell said he can fit more budgets and reach more shoppers — including friends and family in his hometown of Longview, Texas. His first full collections will be available in spring 2022.

Demi Moore made a surprise appearance at Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris by opening Fendi‘s Spring-Summer 2021 show.

Wearing an off-the-shoulder jacket with matching trousers and long, geometric earrings designed by Kim Jones, Moore opened the show and was later joined by supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, and Christy Turlington.

The show also featured appearances by Kate Moss and her 18-year-old daughter Lila.

Last fall, Moore, 58, appeared during Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion show, though her Fendi appearance marks her runway debut.

The Ghost actress had worked with Jones, who is Fendi’s artistic director, before; she posed for a book of portraits in 2019 wearing Jones’s designs.

Kate Moss and Daughter Lila, 18, Hit the Runway Together for the First Time at Fendi Fashion Show

Lila Moss looked like a fashion force (and her mom’s mini-mi!) as she strutted down the catwalk with mom Kate Moss at the Fendi couture show during Paris Fashion Week.

The mother-daughter duo returned to the runway for famed designer Kim Jones’ first collection for Fendi, joining a squad of other top supermodels including Naomi Campbell, Bella Hadid and Cara Delevingne.

Lila, 18, stepped on the catwalk in a sheer, silver beaded caped gown with a draped train worn over a bodysuit and accessorized with a matching headpiece and knee-high boots. Then Kate, 47, stepped on the runway right behind her daughter in an elegant pewter gown with embellishments at the hem and dramatic drop earrings falling all the way down to her chest.
