Women of Woodside host first social event of the year at Reserve Club in Aiken | Features

Women of Woodside held its first social event since the pandemic started, hosting a sold-out fashion show and luncheon at The Reserve Club on Thursday afternoon.

WOW is known for its social events, charitable fundraisers and contributions to different charities around Aiken.

“We have been able to donate $59,000 to the various charities within Aiken, which is lower than what we would normally do, but the fact that we couldn’t do anything last year, it’s pretty admirable,” said Kathleen Bennett, WOW president.

The Spring Fashion Show & Luncheon is an annual event for the organization. WOW members modeled the fashions, and violinist Adam DePriest, conductor of the Aiken Civic Orchestra, provided the music.

Capsule, a women’s clothing store in Augusta,  provided 36 outfits from its spring and summer collection for the fashion show. Capsule offers everything from casual to cocktail in petite to plus sizes.

“Once a day, we’ll have someone come over from Aiken, and it’s just a great community that we want to be a part of,” said Katie Haskins, the owner of Capsule. “They’ve just really been a fantastic support, even through this difficult COVID year, they have just been a constant presence in the store.”

Capsule will partner with the Women of Woodside again in September for another fashion show to be held in conjunction with the WOW golf tournament.

The Women of Woodside’s next event will be a Garden Tour fundraiser on May 15. The tour showcases different gardens in the Woodside community. Proceeds will benefit Stand at the Crossroads Ministries.
