MACOMB — Once again, the Macomb Junior High Thespians hosted a winter clothing drive for the Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency (WIRC-CAA) Project Santa program. Thanks to their efforts, the students collected and donated 40 coats, 38 hats, and 22 gloves.
Jamie Roth, Project Santa Coordinator and WIRC-CAA Public Relations Manager, says the agency is very grateful for the students and their hard work hosting this clothing drive. “The families that we help through the Project Santa program are from lower income households, and it is not uncommon for the children to have worn out winter clothing, if anything at all,” said Roth. “These winter clothing items will help the children to have a sense of comfort and security during the winter months.”
The WIRC-CAA Project Santa program aims to provide a happy holiday full of gifts, food and clothing to children of income eligible families in need for the Illinois counties of Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, and Warren. The application period for this year has closed. The 2021 program has nearly 600 children enrolled.
